How to Choose?

Q1
How do I choose the right singing bowl for myself?

The sound frequencies you are drawn to may vary at different stages of your life, depending on your state of being and current needs. The best way is to visit our studio, listen with your own ears, and feel with your own body—choose the sound that brings you peace, comfort, and joy in that moment.

The bowl you love the most at this very moment is the one that suits you best right now.

Q2
What size or pitch should a beginner choose?
There is no single correct answer. First, consider why you want to buy a singing bowl and how you plan to use it—for self-healing, meditation, or to advance into professional sound therapy? Once your purpose is clear, it will be easier to select the right type of bowl to start with:
  • For daily relaxation or beginners’ practice: A small to medium-sized bowl is easier to play and offers a gentle sound.
  • For deeper healing or future advanced practice: Consider a medium to large bowl with a deeper, longer-lasting vibration.

Most importantly, listen with your ears and feel with your body—let it guide you to the bowl that resonates with you.

Q3
Can a single bowl balance the chakras?
Yes. A high-quality singing bowl alone can support energy alignment and promote deep relaxation. Its vibration naturally penetrates the entire energy field of the body—there’s no need to rely on a “chakra set” to achieve balance.
The key to healing lies in the bowl’s quality and how you use it, not in the number of bowls you own.
Q4
Does Mantra provide any warranty or after-sales service for its singing bowls?
Every bowl is personally selected and sound-tested by our teacher to ensure pure quality and energy. Each bowl comes with an official certificate of authenticity, guaranteeing the quality of your purchase. If you receive a bowl with any damage or sound irregularities, please contact us immediately and we will assist you.
Q5
How are Mantra’s singing bowls different from cheaper ones on the market?
Many inexpensive bowls are mass-produced by machines, resulting in a thin tone and unstable resonance. Mantra’s bowls are handcrafted in Nepal and individually sound-checked by our teacher, ensuring a pure, deep, and stable vibration suitable for professional sound healing.

Common Myths?

Q1
Are older bowls more powerful?

Antique bowls may carry a sense of history and natural oxidation that some people appreciate, but their energy is not automatically “better.” What truly matters is the sound quality and resonance. Every bowl we offer is carefully selected to ensure pure energy and suitability for healing.

Q2
Does a new bowl need to be “opened” or go through a special ritual?
No special ritual is necessary. A new bowl naturally “attunes” to you through regular use, gradually building an energetic connection. If you enjoy rituals, you may use incense or simple ceremonies to infuse your personal energy into it.
Q3
Can a singing bowl be placed anywhere in the home?
Singing bowls are healing tools, not religious artifacts. While various religions later incorporated bowls into rituals, the bowl itself is not inherently religious. Therefore, there are no feng shui or directional restrictions. You can place it safely anywhere that is dry, secure, and free from the risk of being knocked over.
Q4
Can a singing bowl cleanse crystals?
The vibrations of a singing bowl can indeed purify the energy of a space, and when the space is energetically balanced, crystals naturally resonate and realign as well.
However, we do not recommend buying a bowl solely for cleansing crystals, as true energy alignment begins on a deeper level—when you take care of your own energy, the space harmonizes, and your crystals naturally return to a pure state.
The true value of a singing bowl lies in supporting both your personal state and the environment, not just as a crystal-cleaning tool.
Q5
Will the energy of a bowl be affected if someone else uses it?
A singing bowl does absorb some energetic imprint during use.
If you wish to restore it to a neutral state, you can simply cleanse it with incense smoke, sound, or intention, helping it return to balance.

Care & Maintenance

Q1
How can I keep my singing bowl sounding its best?

Place the bowl on a soft, even cushion when playing to avoid interference with resonance and allow for a pure, sustained tone. Keep the surface free from dust for consistent sound quality. Do not place the bowl directly on wooden or marble floors while playing, and avoid dropping or hitting it. Even minor falls may cause cracks or damage to its tone.

Q2
How do I clean my singing bowl?
During a healing session, if sweat or water drips into the bowl, wipe it with a damp cotton cloth immediately after use. Leaving it uncleaned for an extended time may result in stubborn stains.
If you live in a humid environment or leave the bowl unused for a long period, it may develop green patina (oxidation). Keep the bowl dry, and if possible, use a dehumidifier.
  • For dark bowls (e.g., chocolate, tiger pattern, black, grey):
    • Use a soft cotton cloth slightly dampened with water and gently wipe in circular motions.
    • Do not allow it to air dry naturally, as water spots may form.
    • ⚠ Do not use brass or silver cleaning agents, as they can damage the surface and antique finish.
  • For light bowls (e.g., golden, matte):
    • Add one tablespoon of baking soda, squeeze in fresh lemon juice, and mix with a small amount of water.
    • Gently wipe the surface in circular motions using a soft cloth.
    • Rinse with clean water and dry thoroughly with a cotton cloth.
    • Never allow it to air dry, as this may cause water stains.
    • After cleaning, leave it in a well-ventilated space for several days; it will naturally regain a rich golden sheen with a beautiful antique character.
Q3
Can I wash or soak my bowl in water?
Not recommended. Prolonged contact with water may lead to oxidation or water stains. Use only a slightly damp cloth for cleaning and dry immediately.
Q4
Can I leave my bowl under the sun?
Direct sunlight is not recommended. Metal bowls can overheat, making them difficult to handle and increasing the risk of accidental drops that may cause irreversible damage.
Q5
How can I prevent oxidation or green patina?
Keeping the bowl dry is key. Avoid storing it in damp areas, and use a dehumidifier if needed. When not in use for a long time, cover it with a soft cloth or store it in a protective bag.
Q6
Will my bowl change color over time? Can I restore its shine?

The surface of a singing bowl may naturally change color over time due to contact with air, which is a normal physical process. Dark bowls show less noticeable changes, while light bowls can regain their natural golden glow through the baking soda and lemon cleaning method.

Q7
How should I store my singing bowl? Do I need a special case?

Store the bowl in a dry, stable location where it will not be knocked over. Use a protective cloth bag or cover to prevent dust accumulation. Avoid placing heavy objects on it or letting it come into contact with hard surfaces.

Q8
Will my bowl break if dropped? How can I tell if it’s damaged?

Although made of metal, a singing bowl can still develop cracks or tone changes if dropped. If its sound becomes dull, short, or produces unusual tones, it may have been damaged.

Q9
Does my singing bowl need oiling or any special protective coating?

No. Simply keep it dry and wipe it regularly. Applying oil or coatings can interfere with resonance and is not recommended.
